Our mission in Peru
“In their dealings with others, they will take into account the customs of the country in which they reside and the sensibilities of the people with whom they live and work.” (Rule 8b)
Our mission in Bambamarca and the surrounding communities is inspired, in a special way, by living the spirit of our Rule No. 8. We do this in the various spaces of daily life, alongside children, adolescents, young people, teachers, and adults, from whom we learn every day to live, welcome, and serve with simplicity.
The community began its presence in Peruvian territory in 2023, embracing the mission alongside Religion teachers in the ODEC and accompanying young people in Religion classes and university pastoral work, as well as responding to the needs of children, youth, and women through various support and accompaniment programs, under the “Supérate” project.
Proyect "Supérate"
Through the project, children and adolescents discover the importance of learning not only knowledge, but also values and the gifts they possess.
In daily accompaniment, we witness the steps they take, their small achievements and progress, both in tutoring classes and in catechesis, where, in addition to deepening their friendship with Jesus, they enjoy games and crafts.
The cooking and exercise workshops provide women with a space to break away from their daily routine.
Through these activities, they strengthen their autonomy, share with others, feel heard and valued, and discover new skills.
With the youth
Young people look for close role models who help them recognize their worth, feel important, and discover the gifts and abilities within them to share with others.
Our close presence among young people, through listening and accompaniment, creates spaces where they can open up and share, in confidence, their experiences.
Through our work in schools, youth groups, formation talks, and vocation gatherings, we accompany young people in discovering the value and meaning of their lives.
Teacher of ODEC
With Religion teachers, we share the joy of educating and accompanying adolescents, encouraging them to be role models who convey not only knowledge but also their experience of God.
In our community, they find a space of welcome and listening where, through meetings, talks, accompaniment, and prayer, they can share their concerns, hopes, and dreams, supported in their personal and professional journey.
Our work consists of helping them become a sign of God’s presence in the lives of their students and in the educational community where they serve.
